LGBTQIA+ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex and Asexual. The plus indicates that there are other identities that fall under this umbrella.

Lesbian is a term that describes a female-identifying person who only experiences attraction to people of their own gender.

Gay typically describes male-identifying people who experience attraction to their own gender, but may also be used by other people in the LGBTQIA+ community to describe themselves.

Bisexual describes someone who is attracted to people of the same or different gender.

Queer is an umbrella term that may be used by anyone in the community to describe themselves.

Intersex is an umbrella term that describes natural body variations that do not fully match either male or female.

Asexual describes someone who does not feel sexual attraction towards anyone of any gender. It does not necessarily mean that they will choose not to have sexual or romantic relationships.
